Too often at Easter, we bifurcate God the Father from God the Son, subconsciously maintaining that Jesus’ death was appeasing a wrath-filled God. However, God was reconciling mankind to himself in the death of Jesus and His Son’s sacrifice expresses the depths of God’s goodness moreso than the depths of His wrath.
In Jesus’ death and resurrection we can stand before God, Abba, the same way Jesus Christ himself does…as sons, as daughters and as heirs – which is what God intended all along. “Go instead to my brothers and tell them ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God’ “, John 20:17
